Our Beliefs

The Lighthouse Church
we believe...

  1. We believe in God, the Father, eternal and almighty, creator of all things. (Ephesians 3:9; 4:6)

  1. We believe in Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God.  We believe in His purpose, His virgin birth, His death, His resurrection and His ascension. (John 3:16-17)

  1. We believe in the Holy Ghost, that He is the third person in the triune Godhead; and the divine Spirit through whom the Father and the Son work. (John 15:26; 14:16)

  1. We believe in Salvation, in the new birth, that when a sinner believes that Lord Jesus died for him and has the power to forgive and take away sin, he receives forgiveness, and he is made a new creature in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:9)

  1. We believe that all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.  And the Lord - who is the Spirit - makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His Glorious image. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

  1. We believe in sanctification, that through the finished work of Jesus, we are made Holy, and we receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness that is both progressive and definite. (Romans 5:17)
  1. Sanctify – To make sacred or holy. To set apart for religious use. To secure from violation.

  2. Holy – To set apart to the service of God. Sacred, pure, guiltless.

  3. Righteousness – Purity of heart, uprightness.

  • By His Blood (Jesus) once and for all – (Hebrews 13:12; 10:10)
  • By Faith – (Acts 15:9; 26:18)
  • By the Holy Ghost (not us) – (Romans 15:16; Philippians 2:13)
  • By the Word and Truth – (Ephesians 5:26,27; John 17:17)
  • Definition: Certain, Clear, Exact (by the God of peace, Himself)
    (I Thessalonians. 5:23)

  1. We believe in the water baptism by immersion, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, as recommended by Jesus Christ our Lord. (Matthew 28:19)

  1. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, that He is the endument of power from on high upon the clean, sanctified life.  When we receive the Holy Ghost, it is accompanied by the same signs as the disciples had on the day of Pentecost. i.e., Speaking with tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:3,4)

  1. We believe that every child of God should strive for perfection. (Matthew 5:48) - Not by our own efforts, but by the Spirit - For of this I am confident, that He who has begun a good work within you will go on to perfect it in preparation for the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)  And the fruit of the Spirit is - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)

  1. We believe in the Divine church built by Jesus Christ; (Matthew 16:18) - that it embraces and includes everyone who is born into the household of faith.  'This Jesus is “the stone that was rejected by you, the builders; it has become the cornerstone.”   There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.' (Acts 4:11-12)  We believe that membership in the Divine church is obtained by the new birth and not by any other method. (John 3:3)

  1. We believe in divine healing, that God has provided in Jesus Christ, complete healing of all diseases, and the prayer of faith will save the sick. (James 5:14-15)

  1. We believe in Bible signs following them that believe. (Mark 16:17; Acts 2:43; Acts 4:30; Acts 5:12; Acts 6:8; Acts 8:13; Romans 15:19; 2 Corinthians 12:12)  But in no case do we tolerate fanaticism of heresy.  We believe that when God confirms His word with signs following, it will bring edification to His church and glory to God.

  1. We believe in the 9 spiritual gifts for the divine church, and that the operation of these gifts bring edification, and that all gifts MUST operate according to the scriptures;  I Corinthians. 12:1) “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.”  v. 4-6) "There are diversites of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.  And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.  v. 20) But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.  v. 25) That there be no schism (divisions) in the body.”  The gifts outlined in the bible include; wisdom; knowledge; faith; gifts of healing; working of miracles; prophecy (foretelling of an event that is unseen); discerning of spirits (penetrating, perceiving); divers kinds of tongues; and the interpretation of tongues.

  1. We believe in the Holy Communion. (I Corinthians 11:23-25)

(John 6:51) “I am the living bread, which came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. This bread is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” - “for the LIFE (health, healing, provision, protection, well being and much more) of the world.”

(Matthew 26:26) While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.” (The Last Supper)

Jesus said: “Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me.(1 Corinthians 11:24)

(Matthew 26:27-28) He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, “All of you drink it, for this is My blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.”

In the same way He also took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink, in memory of Me.” (1 Corinthians 11:25)

    - The Holy Communion honors the body and blood of Christ, as we personally remember and meditate on: the punishment He took upon Himself in our place, As Us.  Jesus redeemed us from the curse of sin, which also caused seperation from Father God, and the curse of physical pain, suffering, death and more.  Jesus and the Father love it when we remember!

  1. We believe that every Christian has the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:5)  Therefore, we should want to think and act like Lord Jesus.  We should want to stop sinning, and ask the Holy Spirit to help us stop sinning.  We cannot stop of our own doing, that's why we need a Savior.  But we know that the grace of God is faithful, for He has promised: sin shall no longer be your master, for you are not under law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)  Whether destructive desires are removed immediately, or in a proccess over time, we have to trust in His love and grace.  But even when we fail, we are the righteousness of God in Christ! (2 Corinthians 5:21)

  1. We believe in the support of the ministry, that they who preach the Gospel - that the laborer is worthy of his hire.  We believe that every Christian should dedicate a portion of his income to the Lord as the Lord has prospered him. (I Timothy 5:17-18)  We believe that it is God’s plan for Christian people to put as much as one tenth (1/10) or more of their income into their home church.

  1. We believe that every person professing salvation should have a home church where they can devote themselves, and be in fellowship with other belivers.  They should be interested enough in that church to aid in its up keep, financially, as well as spiritually. (Acts 2:42)

  1. We believe the coming of Christ will be just as literal and visible as was His going away. (Acts 1:11)

  1. We believe that God, at the Great White Throne Judgment, will finally judge the wicked dead, according to their works. (Revelation 20:11-14)
And no believer will be judged that day as the final judgement is reserved for all who rejected the Lord Jesus Christ on earth. (John 5:24)
